iPhone Backup Extractor is a neat and handy tool designed to extract data from the backups that iTunes makes of your iOS compatible devices.
The tool presents a highly-intuitive interface and automatically detects the latest backups saved in the default folder (\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup) or it enables you to select backups from any other location where you might have saved them.
This program can be used in default mode, which organizes the available data for extraction by displaying it in folders, and in Expert mode, in which the backup details are displayed in a handy tree menu.
I recommend using the default mode as it is more intuitive. You may just click the desired folder, 'Contacts' for example, and the extraction process will start. The default output format for contacts extraction is vCard, but the 'Extract' menu enables you to choose the CSV format as well.
This application provides a handy DB file conversion feature. You can easily convert contacts in the DB file format to VCards and CSV, as well as DB calendars to ICAL and CSV, or the call history to CSV.
I consider that the data extraction process being limited to four records is a serious drawback of the free edition of this tool. The home edition also limits the number of supported backups to four.
In the end, I think that iPhone Backup Extractor is a nice addition to your collection of applications, as it gets the job done and is really easy to use.
